Biographie
Shazma has played a major role in growing the family business. Looking to build upon the strong foundation established by her parents, Shazma has been very mindful to the changes she is making at ZS Holdings.
ZS Holdings began when Afzal and Gulzar Rajan obtained their first hotel property in the '80s. With a strong vision and commitment to building upon her family’s success, Shazma has proven herself a leader within the hospitality industry.
During her tenure, Shazma has steered the growth of her family business from two to seven hotels including Holiday Inn & Suites Red Deer, Holiday Inn Express Red Deer, Holiday Inn Hinton, Holiday Inn & Suites Hinton, and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Edson. The newest addition to the hotel family is the Holiday Inn Express Red Deer North and starting construction of Staybridge Suites in Red Deer. ZS Holdings also has 2 restaurants, including the award-winning Boulevard Restaurant + Lounge in Red Deer and Greentree Restaurant & Fireside Lounge in Hinton.
Shazma’s accomplishments are proven through the success of her properties, which have received numerous awards during her presidency. Holiday Inn Red Deer and Edson won the IHG Torchbearer Award in 2017, among many others. Shazma’s influence is far reaching with a strong involvement in the community, participation in charity, and contribution to exceptional hospitality with a notion of service to her employees, her guests, and the community. She currently serves as the Chair of Holiday Inn Americas (Canada, USA and Mexico) for the Owners Association as well as just completed her term on then AHLA Board of Directors. Balancing personal and business is what motivates Shazma's desire to give time, donate to community, inspire people and grow her business.
