Cobham is a village and civil parish in the local authority of Gravesend in Kent. The village is located 2 miles south-east of Gravesend, and just south of Watling Street. Charles Dickens, the renowned novelist, delighted himself in Cobham and its environment. He loved to walk from his home in Gads Hill, Higham and through to Cobham Park, to work on his story lines for his novels. Dickens also immortalised to Leather Bottle Inn in The Pickwick Papers, as he regularly frequented this establishment, and the Inn, still today, houses a fine collection of Dickensian memorabilia.
The National Trust have several properties that lie within the parish of Cobham including Owletts, The Yeoman’s House and the Darnley Mausoleum.
