Construit en 1907, le bâtiment du temple maçonnique est l'un des bâtiments les plus importants du centre-ville de Raleigh. Le bâtiment du temple maçonnique était le premier gratte-ciel de Caroline du Nord. Il s'élevait à l'époque à sept étages. Il s'agit de la plus ancienne structure en béton armé d'acier encore existante de l'État. Le bâtiment a été conçu par Charles McMillan, un éminent architecte de Caroline du Sud, qui a utilisé des éléments du style architectural de Louis Sullivan, notamment une volumétrie tripartite et des ornements décoratifs de style Beaux-Arts. Les finitions extérieures comprennent du calcaire de l'Indiana, de la brique beige et de la terre cuite décorative. Le bâtiment du temple maçonnique est inscrit individuellement au registre national des lieux historiques et a été désigné monument historique de la ville de Raleigh en 1979. Empire Properties a acheté le bâtiment du temple maçonnique en 2001 et a pris soin au cours des deux dernières décennies d'apporter des améliorations aux bureaux et aux espaces commerciaux dans le respect de l'importance du bâtiment pour la ville de Raleigh.
