DESCRIPTION
A large, prominent redevelopment site extending to 1.211 acres. The site is situated in the Gun Quarter area of Birmingham City Centre in close proximity to the city core and Colmore Business District. The site is situated on the corner of Princip Street and New Town Row. Elements of the buildings on site have been demolished. Historically, the site was residential terraced housing, which were then mostly demolished by the 1950s and replaced by factory buildings and warehouses that exist today. The surrounding area has a range of building uses as a result of regeneration taking place in the area, though historically was primarily industrial in nature with workshops and factories. The site occupies a prime location, being very close to two of Birmingham’s universities and within less than a 10-minute walk to Snow Hill railway station, the city core and Colmore Business District. Immediately surrounding the site, there is considerable residential led development and regeneration including Lancaster Wharf directly opposite the site which is nearing PC (a scheme by Affinity Living), directly adjacent to the site a scheme of 26 apartments is being delivered and slightly further down Princip Street, on the corner of Loveday Street a scheme called Paper Yard by Hatchbury developments for 77 apartments, is due to start on-site imminently.
